Our new associate holds a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Juris Master from Jinan University, an LL.B and a Bachelor of Management Sciences from North University of China. They are a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
With six years of experience as a public prosecutor in China specializing in criminal law, they have honed critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong advocacy skills, particularly in handling complex cases like murder and financial fraud. This role required effective collaboration, strategic planning, and independent decision-making.
Their work in Canada includes assisting victims of sexual offences and domestic violence. As a student caseworker at the Family Law Project, they supported low-income clients, enhancing their communication and legal drafting skills. Additionally, they gained practical experience in criminal law through simulation training and a placement at the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, where they were involved in mock hearings, legal research, and client interviews. This experience provided familiarity with Ontario courtroom procedures, bail hearings, impaired driving laws, sexual offence laws, and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Their involvement in a coroner’s inquest of a triple homicide and an intervention in a criminal appeal in the Supreme Court of Canada has deepened their understanding of criminal procedures. They have also contributed to various projects, including the Criminalization of Women project, showcasing excellent research and writing skills.
Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, they bring valuable linguistic skills to assist clients from diverse backgrounds.
